because art inspires.

Emily McInnes launched EYE BUY ART in 2009 because she wanted to help individual collectors and trade professionals discover and connect with contemporary art.

Emily was an advisor to Magnum Photos and a founding member of Timeraiser, serving on the art jury for 11 years. These experiences, plus time spent as Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Flash Forward Festival and as Director of Creative Development for the CONTACT Toronto Photography Festival brought the strategic direction for the business into sharp focus.

EYE BUY ART is constantly experimenting with innovative strategies that enhance their digital presence, alongside projects that take place in the physical world. These projects include international art fairs, pop-ups, strategic partnerships, and temporary public exhibitions that give profile and context to the artists they work with in an otherwise crowded space.

Rose Ekins is an important part of the team. Rose has worked extensively in public art museums and private galleries and received her Master’s of Art History from Carleton University. In addition to her work with EYE BUY ART, Rose is an independent curator and writes extensively about art.

Today, the business provides two distinct services. They curate site-specific contemporary art projects for corporate partners and offer eyebuyart.com, an e-commerce platform targetting individual collectors.

Since 2009, they have featured and showcased the work of more than 50 talented and important contemporary and emerging artists. As consultants, they work closely with their clients to help them find the art that is right for them.
